HOW MUSIC MAY AFFECT US

By Robert Ranieri, 2005

When we study past civilizations, we realize that forms of expression, and in this case the use of music, its rythms, its structure, and melody become what are for the composer and music maker significant thought and feeling that we are able to relate to, and utilize.
Much art has been lost through Time, which drives this Great Grinding Stone the World, to pulverize and wash away entire civilizations. Still, enough clues remain to make it possible to reconstruct some of the past in order to experience continuity and relevance, as we celebrate our own lives.
As folk we may make music anywhere, be it while moving about the house, or humming as we tend the garden. Families take pleasure when together to sing and dance, perhaps gathered around the piano. The guitar, an ancient instrument, is a frequent participent.
Music is for everyone, as religious sentiment is conveyed too, whether when singing in church or among ourselves.
